Canon VIXIA HF R600 Review

Canon Vixia HF R600

Canon Vixia HF R600
9.4

Pros

  • Low Price
  • Fantastic Zoom
  • Lots of features
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Only slight improvements compared to the R500

Whether you are taking a picture from far away or up close, the Canon VIXIA HF R600 is a great choice to capture high quality images and full high definition videos because of the amazing features that it is equipped with. It is incorporated with a SuperRange Optical Image and a 57x Advanced Zoom range, which is why I was able to shoot sharp looking images and high quality and steady videos even though I was several feet away from my subject. The 3 inch LCD touch screen provides a good framing and allows a quick playback. Canon designed this camcorder with all kinds of users in mind and it has a wide range of very useful features like zoom magnification, image control settings and it can also automatically adjust image stabilization for a better image quality. Another thing that I really like about the Vixia HF R600 is its high capacity, 1840 mAH battery because it allows for an extended shooting time.

The DIGIC DV 4 Image Processor

Canon incorporated the DIGIC DV 4 image processor in this camcorder for a better imaging performance. Because of this, the images are brighter and more noise free even when shooting in dark scenes.

Image Sensor

The HF R600 has a 3.28 MP full high definition CMOS image sensor that can support 1920 x 1080 resolution video captures. This high technology sensor is extra sensitive and results to a more lifelike video with natural colors, even if you are in a situation with low light. I am also quite happy with its on chip noise reduction because it made the images and videos that I captured even clearer and more vivid. It also allows image capture at a rate of sixty frames per second.

R600 ZoomZoom Options

This camcorder has 32x Optical zoom, 1140x Digital zoom but what I like the most is its very impressive 57x Advanced zoom because I can shoot whatever subject I like from a long range without having to worry of the video’s quality and clarity. If you are a fan of shooting animals in the wild, then you will also surely love this feature because with it, you can capture their behavior without having to disturb them in their natural habitats. I also found out that this camera feature also comes in handy in a lot of other occasions like in taking candid videos of family and friends and also in formal ceremonies.

Filters

If you’d like your videos to have that cinematic effect then you’ll surely find this cinema-look features filter very useful, there are seven filters available that you can choose from and they will give your video a cinematic style. You can have a preview of you chosen filter on the LCD monitor while you are shooting for you to see if it does look good or not.

Although Canons new VIXIA HF R600 is a great camcorder, it must be noted that it is basically just a rebrand of the previous brand, the Canon VIXIA HF R500. There were only minor developments and the only thing that slightly improves is the new model’s battery life.
