The camera packs a lot of features despite its cheap price tag. It can go on par with other camera’s that are more expensive than the DNV16HDZ-BK. The only thing that is drawing it back against its expensive rivals is the camera’s digital zoom feature and its 30 frames per second (FPS) video recording. Both are average in respect to other night vision video recording devices.

Hardware Specs, Overall Build Quality, and Ergonomics

Bell and Howell have been around since the 1900’s. It’s interesting that their company manufactures headphones, electric shavers, and digital cameras. They are not as well known as other tech giants like Sony and Canon. But they have been able to create budget friendly camcorders. All for the benefit of the regular consumer. It has a fair amount of decent reviews in Amazon, garnering good reviews.  That’s not bad considering the competition.

Hardware

Components of the DNV16HDZ Night Vision Camera are all basic. Comparing it to most of the more expensive night vision cameras in the market, it’s in the low end. It packs a standard 16-megapixel camera sensor that records 1920 x 1080p videos. A 3-inch touchscreen LCD display monitor, zoom lens with a 4.6 mm focal length and a 37 mm diameter. Storage comes in dual memory card slots for microSD and standard SD cards.

The camera is quite easy to hold. Its contoured design is common for cameras that have the same specifications. It has a  5.3 x 5.8 x 13.7 cm (with battery) camera dimension. The camcorder weighs 371 g, making it a light and compact night vision camera. It just feels cheaper than most of the branded NV cameras. But it’s build and design is quite outstanding for its price tag.

Both are average in respect to other night vision video recording devices.

Zooming up to 100x makes the video grainier and sloppier. You’d notice a lot of video noise coupled with bad video quality. The 30 frames per second video recording are anything but average. If you’d want videos that are clearer and crisp in quality this camera lacks that. Most recording devices right now use 60 fps standard for a clearer and crisper video recording. At 30 fps some recordings might look different and sloppier if you have a UHD TV but it’s good enough for the average user.
